What is an online consultation?
An online consultation (telemedicine) lets you speak with a licensed doctor by video, voice or chat without visiting a clinic. Virtual healthcare is regulated in Saudi Arabia, so both the provider and the clinician must be licensed by the competent authorities.
When does it fit?
- Reviewing lab or imaging results with a specialist.
- Follow-up of a stable chronic condition such as diabetes or hypertension.
- A second opinion before surgery or major treatment.
- Questions about medicines or side effects.
- Finding the right specialty before booking a clinic visit.
Do not rely on a remote consultation for chest pain, breathing difficulty, loss of consciousness, heavy bleeding or stroke symptoms. Call 997 immediately.
Choosing a trustworthy online doctor
- Check the doctor is licensed and registered with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
- Choose the right specialty, not just the first available doctor.
- Ask how your medical data is protected and who can see it.
- Make sure there is follow-up, not just a single call.
