The idea and the inspiration

The founder’s story

How a personal experience with open-heart surgery became a platform that helps patients make confident medical decisions.

HealTrip was born when the doctor became the patient.

Dr. Ameen Fayed, HealTrip’s founder and CEO, spent years helping patients make difficult medical decisions. Then, overnight, he became the one searching for answers.

Dr. Ameen studied at Tanta University, trained as a dentist and spent years inside Saudi Arabia’s healthcare system. He watched an advanced system deliver excellent care, and watched patients struggle to find their way through it. He realised the medicine was almost the easy part; the real harm sat in the search for the right doctor and the right decision.

Then he became the patient. He faced a life-changing choice: a coronary stent, or open-heart surgery? Was this hospital the right place? Should he seek a second opinion? And if something happened to him, would his family know where to turn? For the first time he lived the fear and uncertainty millions of patients face every day, not because there were no doctors, but because making the right medical decision is often harder than receiving the diagnosis itself.

He underwent open-heart surgery and, by the grace of God, survived. When he woke up, he realised he had been given a second chance: to live, and to build something that could help others avoid the same uncertainty. That is the vision behind HealTrip: a platform that helps patients and families reach trusted medical expertise, second opinions and confident decisions, wherever they are in the world.

Sometimes your greatest pain becomes your greatest purpose. My scar is no longer a reminder of what happened to me. It is a reminder of why I must keep building.
